Switch Uptime

What utter geekery. I almost make myself sick. Almost.

What utter geekery. I almost make myself sick. Almost.

I was recently reminded of this uptime discovered at work a few months back when we were doing an audit.

pr-cache-cat3524 uptime is
5 years, 6 weeks, 3 days, 1 hour, 18 minute

That’s five years just sat in a rack, switching packets. Simply just working. No reboots, no fucking about just going for it. Brilliant!

Then today we found this one which equates to about SIX YEARS and nine months! Whirring away.

Uptime is 2467 days, 23 hours, 14 minutes
dig-u4-cat-ca2 (enable)

I forwarded such impressive geekery onto Steven who immediately turned up the geek-o-meter and informed me that on the 13th Feb 2009 at 23:30.30s GMT the unix timestamp will be 1234567890.

I was truly out-nerded.
